It’s more important than ever before to be thinking about what you’re putting forward in order to attract the best talent.

As Gen Z are entering the workforce and growing in their careers - they’re bringing new perspectives and expectations with them. They’re a growing force, set to make up 27% of the workforce by 2025, and growing to be the dominant generation by 2031.

It’s more important than ever before to be thinking about what you’re putting forward as your first impressions, in order to attract the best Gen Z talent.

4 ways to make your roles more attractive to Gen Z

1. Be clear on what the role involves

Gen Z values authenticity and transparency. When creating a job description, use straightforward language and clearly outline the responsibilities, expectations, and opportunities for growth. Highlight how the role aligns with your company's values and mission and how it makes an impact in your organisation. On Hatch, when you’re posting roles - by sharing key responsibilities and skills it’s really easy to be clear upfront with what the job involves.

2. Be upfront with the details

If you don’t share key information upfront, you risk Gen Z turning away. They want to know about the salary range, benefits, company culture and how your company works (ie: remote, hybrid, in the office) before they hit submit. Provide insight into what a typical day looks like and how this role fits in within your wider team.

3. Highlight the impact your company makes

Gen Z are passionate about making a difference in the world and building careers that they care about. It’s important that you showcase how your company is making a positive impact, whether it's through sustainable practices, social responsibility initiatives, or building innovative products and services.

4. Showcase your team and company culture

Company culture is a significant factor for Gen Z when considering job opportunities. Highlight your company's values, diversity, and inclusion efforts, and unique perks or benefits. Use social media and employee testimonials to give Gen Z candidates a glimpse into what it's like to work at your organisation. TikTok is a great channel for this, below is a 'day in the life' video we created to give Qantas' latest roles a boost, and it got over 25,000 views in 24 hours!

By focusing on these strategies, you can make your job roles more appealing to Gen Z talent and position your company as an attractive employer for the fastest growing generation in the workforce.
