About the role

The Opportunity:   This position is responsible for timely and accurate capex reporting and analysis for the Vocus group, with a focus on partnering with the Strategic Investments division and handling merger and acquisition integration reporting.   This includes both financial and operational reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis with a focus on understanding both the P&L and capex impact in the context of the budget/forecast and operations. This information will be used by the senior leadership team and the board for their understanding and decision-making processes.   The position would be in the first instance assisting the FP&A Manager in capex preparation and reporting, along with process improvements where possible. In addition to capital reporting and planning, this role will provide business partnering (tactical support) and decision-making support primarily to the Strategic Investments division.

  • Monthly capital planning and management, both reporting and budgeting

  This position will allow the incumbent to immediately collaborate and partner closely with the wider business units including exposure to General Managers/Executives. This position also paves the pathway for FP&A development and progression onto the wider FP&A/Commercial functions.    Reporting to the FP&A Manager and working closely with the greater senior accounting team and Business, your main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  1. Capital Reporting & Planning
    • Manage timely capex spend reporting including monthly depreciation and amortisation output
  • Develop & maintain templates for collection of data from Vocus operating divisions

  1. Monthly reporting and analysis (including integration reporting)
    • Management reports (BU reports / Management/Board pack and investor presentations)
    • Input of financial outputs into the Vocus consolidation system and management of rolling forecasts
    • Insightful variance reporting and analysis of key business measures compared to budget, prior forecasts, strategic plan, and prior year results
    • Identify and improve financial reporting processes where applicable

     

  2. Business Partnering
    • Provide support to the Strategic Investments division, including monthly P&L reviews; budgeting/forecasting assistance and tactical support when required
    • Assist with the provision of commercial inputs, analysis and recommendations into business cases and other business/project opportunities
    • Become the trusted advisor to project teams/PMO managers/senior management on the capex front
    • Work across the organisation providing key information and advice as required

    • Identify issues or opportunities within the role or broader organisation and implement required changes
    • Improve reporting of key financial and operational measures, data extraction, and preparation of consolidated reports
    • Identification of process weaknesses and working with team to address and implement appropriate changes

    • Involvement in the integration of Adaptive Insights consolidation and BI reporting tools
    • Assist with reporting and planning model developments

  **What you'll bring to this role; ** Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • CA/CPA qualified with prior experience in a mid-top tier accounting firm (5+ years)
  • Demonstrated commercial experience
  • Previous experience working in a financial accounting/fixed assets environment in particular a large, complex environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational, time and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced with MS skills, specifically Excel/PowerPoint
  • Telecommunications industry experience advantageous
