About the role

See yourself in our team: Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) clients. The team’s purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives.

Our team manages key relationships with clients across the Industrials, Transport, Consumer and Media sectors, providing those clients a full range of services including capital and financing solutions tailored to their needs. Sitting within Corporate Client Coverage’s Diversified Corporates and Aviation team, you will have direct exposure to large ASX listed companies, together with private equity and multinational companies, and the opportunity to work closely with other product teams across IB&M.

Do work that matters: You will contribute to achieving Coverage’s core purpose by supporting senior bankers across various aspects of client management and deal related activity including preparation of pitch packs and information materials, financial modelling, completing annual credit reviews and client due diligence. Key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide support to Bankers in covering and servicing the needs of our clients including for complex transactions, operational requirements and day-to-day enquiries across the client lifecycle
  • Work as part of a Deal Team over the lifecycle of a deal to support and drive documentation, execution, establishment, settlement and in-life maintenance processes
  • Prepare annual credit reviews and provide analytical and credit related support in preparation of credit applications for new transactions. Liaise with product partners, credit risk and other stakeholders as required
  • Collect client information to facilitate and support the Know Your Customer ‘KYC’ onboarding process for new clients and the KYC refresh process for existing clients, including liaising with customers and the relevant middle office teams
  • Perform portfolio monitoring activities such as breach management and other reporting and liaise with credit risk where required
  • Input and maintain client, credit and transaction data and ensure data accuracy and quality across systems.

  • Understanding of risk management and credit risk issues

  • Proactive in driving change, influencing and reporting to management
  • Experience in understanding the operational drivers of a business and how they relate to the financial drivers of that business 
  • The ability to grasp complex structured transactions and analyse the benefits of the idea for specific client circumstances 
  • Capacity to work in what could at times be a high-pressure environment requiring tight timeframes
  • An understanding of the systems used across IB&M and our product offering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills combined with professional presentation
  • Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks
  • Prior experience in corporate or institutional banking will be highly regarded.
