About the role
About Us: Our Projects and Development Services (PDS) team provide corporate and institutional clients with the management of design, construction, and relocation services to minimise risk and eliminate unnecessary cost.
Projects range from greenfield developments to major fit-outs and refurbishments, from single one-off projects to state, national multi-site and regional roll-out projects requiring consistent nationwide delivery.
As one of the largest project management firms in Australia with a team of over 320 professional staff, we operate in sectors including commercial, industrial, education, data centres, hotels, retail and defence.
What this opportunity involves: As a Project Manager in our Project & Development Services (PDS) business line, you will have a key role in managing and delivering hundreds of capital works projects on a nation-wide account. You will be accepting total responsibility for the effective management of all phases within the projects from initial establishment, handover, and project closure. You will have astute leadership capabilities, encouraging maximum contributions of all participants to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved for our stakeholders.
An overview of the role:
- Work to assemble and effectively lead consultants, contractors, and suppliers to achieve the best possible performance from all members of the project team.
- Ensure appropriate procurement processes are implemented and contracts are in place with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Within each project, ensure an effective organisation structure for reporting, communication and working procedures.
- Establish a detailed overall project programme that sets clear milestones and objectives to ensure successful project delivery.
- Establish project budget in accordance with client requirements and manage and forecast expenditure to achieve completion within budget.
- Carry out contract administration of all vendors professionally and in accordance with legal requirements to protect commercial interests of client and JLL.
- Manage the construction phase of the project and ensure JLL is providing appropriate supervision commensurate with our role.
- Identify, mitigate, and report on project risks to ensure the delivery of projects on time and under budget.
- Carry out value engineering, buildability analysis, and critically review the design and documentation to minimise risk and maximize outcomes.
Sound like you? This is what we’re looking for: You will have significant Industrial experience and some civil engineering experience to support the NSW PDS Team to deliver various projects in both the private and government sectors.
Key skills required:
- Have proven Project Management experience
- Be able to manage project delivery from inception to closure, with advice from Senior Project Managers as required.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, and experience in managing cost reporting systems such as Prolog.
- Understand the legal environment for each project in respect of planning, commercial aspects and delivery constraints.
- Be able to carry out commercial negotiations with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and authorities.
- Understand our obligations for complying with AS 4801, AS 14001 and Environmental Health and Safety legislation generally.
- A degree in a relevant property or construction related discipline or related and demonstrated industry experience in managing project life cycle.
