About the role

The Manager of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) will play a critical role in driving the company's growth and portfolio management strategy by evaluating and executing both acquisition, joint ventures, partnerships and divestment opportunities. This role involves conducting detailed financial and valuation modelling, managing end-to-end transaction processes, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders. The Manager will support and work closely with senior members of the M&A team and business management/executive to align M&A activities with Telstra's strategic objectives

The Manager of M&A is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the M&A and corporate development process. This position demands strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, problem solving and the ability to support negotiation and closing transactions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial and Valuation Modelling
  • Create detailed, dynamic and driver based financial models to evaluate the potential financial impact of acquisitions/corporate development transactions/divestments.
  • Perform thorough financial analysis and valuations using discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and other relevant techniques.
  • Transaction Management
  • Manage the end-to-end M&A and corporate development processes, including due diligence, deal structuring and closing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, tax, HR and others) to ensure seamless transaction execution.
  • Work closely with and assist in managing advisors, including accounting, legal, consulting and commercial
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within Strategy & Finance, other cross-functional areas, business management and external advisors.

About you To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Accounting
  • Demonstrated M&A experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or transaction services department of an investment bank, top accounting firm or M&A advisory at a boutique firm.
  • Interest in the telecommunications and technology industry and its competitive landscape
  • Ability to identify strategic opportunities and align them with company goals.
  • Have strong strategic thinking, thought leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and market analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and key performance indicators.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills for conveying strategies and outcomes.
