Beca has a team of 300+ water sector specialists who are passionate about delivering technically excellent projects that help build healthy communities and sustainable outcomes throughout both urban and regional Australia. We also have the support of a larger New Zealand team with over 3000 Beca employees across the Tasman that gives us the opportunity to pursue some of the largest water infrastructure projects in Australia.

The Australian water and industrial businesses at Beca work across several geographies with projects and opportunities in NSW, QLD, ACT, VIC, SA and TAS. Our clients range from D&C contractors through to direct support for utilities providers through panel positions or Owners Engineer roles.

The Opportunity As we continue to grow in the water sector, we are looking for an Associate Structural Engineer to join our Sydney team and contribute to our national industrial and water business. This role is ideal for someone with established experience who is looking to take the next step in their Career by helping to lead and develop our local Sydney team and working on a diverse range of industrial, water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will have the opportunity to lead structural designs for conveyance pipelines, hydraulic structures, pump stations, service reservoirs, and treatment facilities along with general light and heavy industrial projects. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll manage end-to-end project delivery, including design, documentation, and construction phase support.

About You You will be a Chartered Professional Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, with experience in the water and wastewater sector and general industrial structures. You have developed a solid foundation in structural design, analysis, and documentation and are eager to step into a role with more technical responsibility and client interaction.

You will also bring:

  • Proven experience various aspects of structural engineering including study involvement, budget, schedule and scope, development, detailed design, analysis, construction/commissioning phase support.  
  • Experience delivering water and wastewater projects in accordance with Australian requirements.
  • Experience in the scoping and development of engineering work packages including time-based estimates for deliverables.  
  • An interest  in strengthening and growing existing client connections and supporting the building of relevant new relationships, as a trusted technical advisor.  
  • A working style that embraces working collaboratively with other disciplines to bring together the best technical expertise from across a business.  . 
  •  A commitment to continuous learning and career progression, with a desire to develop and mentor junior engineers.
