About the role
The purpose of this role is to measure Westpac’s existing and emerging operational risks.
The role holder will support compliance with Prudential Standards APS 115 Capital:
Standardised Measurement Approach to Operational Risk, Prudential Standard CPS 230 Operational Risk Management, Prudential Standard APS 330 Pillar 3 disclosures, ensuring leading practice is defined and implemented consistently across the Group in line with regulatory requirements and Board expectations, and work with other Risk teams to ensure that the Group's operational risk measurement activities are appropriately executed. Key Accountabilities include:
- Support the Group’s approach to Operational Risk Measurement (ORM), ensuring leading practice is defined and implemented consistently across the Group in line with regulatory requirements and Board expectations.
- Support the Executive Manager Operational Risk Measurement to perform day to day tasks and analysis required to support the ORM teams’ broader objectives.
- Inform the assessment of existing and emerging operational risks, using historic loss analysis and forward-looking scenario analysis.
- Manage and uplift Group’s Internal Loss Data (ILD) reconciliation process ensuring General Ledger and JUNO are in synch with the financial impact of the losses.
- Manage submission of ILD data to the third party ORX (Operational risk exchange) based on the submission procedures agreed with ORX.
- Be responsible for downloading, maintaining External Loss Data (ELD) received from ORX.
- Perform data analytics and insights-based reporting on ILD and ELD data to create a loss data experience analysis story and inform ORM leadership and divisional stakeholders about the emerging trends and the “So What” of the data.

What do I need?
- A relevant undergraduate degree from a recognised university is desirable
- 3+ years’ experience in data analysis or quantitative modelling is a must.
- Experience working in financial services.
- Strong stakeholder management and engagement
- High level of use with data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL
- Demonstrable experience leading change
- Knowledge of risk management disciplines
- Knowledge and experience in risk measurement or capital management preferred
