About the role

About the team The Internal Apps team consists of 6 talented full stack software engineers, supported by a dedicated product designer and product manager. We own Canvaworld, our flagship people directory web application that connects and empowers Canva employees globally. Our mission is to help Canvanauts find information and connect with each other with ease, building tools that foster collaboration and strengthen our community. Our work directly impacts every Canva employee's daily experience and plays a vital role in maintaining our company culture as we scale.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team through effective coaching and constructive feedback
  • Partner with product designer and product manager in a triad model to lead the execution of Canvaworld's 3-year vision
  • Create and own the team's roadmap through active engagement with stakeholders across the business
  • Drive effective stakeholder management to ensure we're working on the highest-impact initiatives
  • Drive the delivery of internal products from ideation to completion within startup timeframes
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance through software design reviews and code reviews
  • Own the technology roadmap for the team’s software and infrastructure stack
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that prioritises open communication and emphasises growth and development.

Qualifications

We’d love it if you

  • Have 3-5 years of experience leading high-performing software engineering teams in a fast-paced, user-focused environment
  • Are well-versed in web app architecture and technologies including Python, TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, and SQL on AWS infrastructure
  • Have strong knowledge of DevOps practices including continuous delivery, continuous Integration, and Infrastructure as code
  • Demonstrate disciplined coding practices and a creative approach to problem-solving
  • Excel at both written and verbal communication, able to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Can lead by example, promoting Canva's values and no-blame mentality, where everyone can share their best ideas and be their best selves

The group runs programs across Identity and Access Management, Application Security, Risk and Compliance, Threat Detection and Response, and Red Teams.
