About the role

About the Role The Regulatory Officer will support the Senior Manager focusing on regulatory compliance to drive initiatives which ensure the firms ongoing compliance with professional standards, applicable laws and regulations as they relate to professional services delivered by the firm. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a budding professional (law, business, accounting) to develop a technical skillset in regulatory compliance, policy and reporting and grow within our organisation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Regulatory Compliance are within the Quality Management Team
  • Maintain registers of professional standards and applicable laws and regulations the firm is required to comply with in the delivery of professional services
  • Maintain oversight over the National Complaints Framework, including regulated notification timeframes
  • Ensure ASIC Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) Data Reporting is actioned
  • Support the ongoing maturity of our Modern Slavery Framework, including by undertaking regular due diligence on our supplier
  • Take part in the creation of BDO’s annual Modern Slavery Statement
  • Complete supplier questionnaires which concern compliance, policy and modern slavery as part of client onboarding processes

Skills and experience: 

  • at least 0-2 years of experience in the compliance, policy, reporting or legal space(s). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Reasonable ability to comprehend and interpret legislation and regulation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous employment within a Professional Services, Banking or Financial institutions or related industries.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, accounting or similar highly considered
  • An understanding of legislation and regulations in the industry of your previous employment
  • Reasonable ability to comprehend and interpret legislation and regulation
