About the role

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Security Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats.

The Cyber Security Analyst position, as a part of the Information and Cyber Security Services team, is accountable for maintaining a strong security posture in today's threat landscape. Their expertise in threat identification, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance ensures that the Department is protected against cyber threats. Working closely with internal and external technology partners and vendors, the Information and Cyber Security team identifies business needs, provides advice regarding management of information security risks and is responsible for the implementation of the information security improvement activities, ensuring security services and capabilities are in place to support the Department's overall security objectives and obligations under the Privacy and Data Protection Act.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

* Experience working in Information Security Management and/or related functions such as cyber security operations. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience). * Proven experience in a cybersecurity or related role, with a strong understanding of security principles and practices. * Proficiency with or strong understanding of security tools and technologies, including SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Email security and endpoint protection solutions. * Experience with vulnerability assessment and understanding of penetration testing concepts. * Extensive exposure to enterprise technologies such as M365/Azure/EntraID/AD, AWS, Operating Systems. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen interest in investigation and problem management. * Excellent verbal and written, specifically report writing skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the department. * Able to establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the Groups. * The ability to work independently and prioritise work to manage conflicting deadlines. * Previous experience in providing leadership and guidance to junior team members, ensuring playbooks and documentation continually evolve and are fit for purpose. * Security related certifications across Microsoft, Amazon, Comptia etc are highly desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 22 May 2026. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
