About the role
Opportunity This position supports managing UniSuper’s circa $15 billion Private Markets strategy, which includes direct investments in airports, telecommunications, timberlands, toll roads, PPPs and healthcare as well as infrastructure and private equity fund investments. You will work with the team in Private Markets to facilitate the smooth implementation of the strategy. This will involve supporting the origination of new investments, divestments and active management of the existing direct and fund investments, together with coverage of portfolio management responsibilities.
As an Investment Analyst, you will be responsible for the following:
- Financial modelling: Lead, develop and maintain key financial models for the direct investments in Private Markets.
- Origination/Divestments: Assist in the due diligence for potential acquisitions and divestments, including overall coordination of transaction processes, commercial due diligence and financial & valuation analysis.
- Active asset and portfolio management: Assist in /asset and portfolio management activities, including monitoring and assessing asset/portfolio performance, stakeholder and regulatory reporting
- ** Reporting:** Assist in preparing investment recommendations and reporting to UniSuper’s Investment Committee and other key stakeholders.
- Idea generation and research: Proactively generate, develop, review, refine and present investment ideas and research in the relevant Private Markets sectors internally and externally.
- AI Integration: Incorporate AI into investment processes and portfolio management to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and innovation.
- **Investment Team Collaboration: **Work closely with other asset class teams within the broader investments team.
About you As an experienced Investment Analyst, you'll have the opportunity to work with one of the best in house investment teams in the industry.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Investment Analysis Experience: 3-7 years / demonstrated experience in private markets investing in funds management, investment banking or professional services (in particular, M&A advisory, financial due diligence and/or valuations).
- Presentation, Analytical and Technical Skills: Strong experience in financial modelling and excellent presentation skills, including the ability to synthesise results and provide commercial insights, coupled with strong analytical, quantitative and information technology skills.
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to engage and form strong professional relationships with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail and Self-Motivation: Show self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work proactively, meet deadlines, and function effectively both in a team and autonomously.
- Qualifications and Professional Development: Tertiary and professional qualifications in the relevant field (such as CA or CFA), and strong industry experience.
