About the role

As part of a cross-functional team including engineers, marketers and product owners you will build and operate a system that efficiently influences users and drives growth.

What you’ll do - Build statistical, optimization, and machine learning models for the measurement and optimization of marketing - Design and execute marketing experiments and interpret the results for actionable learnings - Understand user behavior and marketing performance in our data and use it to identify opportunities to improve - Present findings to leadership to inform business decisions - Work with partners like Google and Meta to understand their product offerings and help inform how Xero uses them - Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in marketing, engineering, and product to build our automated, algorithmic, marketing platform Success looks like - Understand the business problems we are trying to solve. Be able to translate between the business context and the technical solution. - Achieve a clearer view of marketing impact to inform the work of marketers and the decisions of business stakeholders. Both overall and at a granular level. - Fit the right solution to each problem—simple where it works, complex where it’s needed. - Increase the efficiency and impact of marketing What you’ll bring with you - Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, or other quantitative fields - 2+ yrs Industry experience in a Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or similar role - Experience in experimental design and analysis - Experience with dashboarding / visualization (e.g. Tableau) - Experience working with big data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Spark) - Experience with exploratory data analysis and model building - Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, optimization, economics, and analytics. - Knowledge of experimental design and analysis - Model development with understanding of data and business context - Advanced SQL proficiency - Proficiency in Python or R or similar language - Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management - Excellent judgement, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills
