Reporting to the Manager, Change, the Senior Change Adviser leads the design and delivery of successful change initiatives within the Department of Health. Through partnering with senior managers to understand their business, and collaborating with key business partners, the Senior Change Adviser identifies and designs effective solutions to enable delivery of multi-faceted change initiatives. The Senior Change Adviser takes responsibility for start to finish projects and portfolios of change to support, coach and lead the department successfully through change and achieve strategic objectives, ensuring readiness, identifying, and managing risk and barriers to change, and implementing timely strategies and communications to ensure successful adoption. To be successful in this role, you will be a high performing team member with strong change management skills, complemented by superior communication, problem solving, and project management capabilities. You will also have experience in change management, analysis and presentation of data / information and the ability to work flexibly to respond to a range of emerging issues and evolving priorities.

  • Conduct robust change management activities to ensure the department, its leaders, and employees are ready for change, can effectively engage with and move through change, and that changes are embedded and enabled to be sustained.
  • Develop a comprehensive change and communications plan for change projects / initiatives that align with agreed timelines and provide clear pathways to progress successfully between key milestones and bring stakeholders along for the journey. This includes conducting robust impact assessments and developing strategies for how to overcome any barriers.
  • Design and implement training and awareness programs and activities to equip people with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to adapt to, lead, and engage with the change, collaborating with Learning and Development, and subject matter experts as required.
  • Lead the full life cycle of change projects to meet departmental objectives including: a) Undertaking research and analysis for planning and implementation of projects, based on defined outcomes and outputs. b) Developing and maintaining project planning and management processes which maintain a high standard of accountability and successful delivery and completion of change projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. c) Monitoring and evaluating projects and initiatives to ensure lessons learnt.
  • Partner with and support senior managers across the department to apply the Department of Health change methodology
  • Manage key unit projects to include setting up, monitoring and managing contracts with external providers to ensure high quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes and budget and results can inform policy development.
  • Provide guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders on change initiatives. Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive change proposals and associated documentation, management reporting on complex matters.
  • Forge strong connections across the department and with the health sector to share information and facilitate a partnership approach to implementation of key initiatives.
