What you’d be doing in this role As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Develop and lead communications strategies to drive Canva’s corporate communications goals including our business, people and culture, trust and safety and social impact initiatives.
  • Build, shape and lead our People and Culture narrative as a key partner to Canva’s Global Head of People. You’ll spotlight the stories that make our culture unique while also building thought leadership to demonstrate the importance and impact of visual communication on building and scaling teams, companies and cultures.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders across the company as their main partner in the creation of external content, including but not limited to: presentations, speeches, blog posts, press briefing materials videos, bylines, and other communications materials.
  • Build, strengthen and communicate Canva’s evolving business and corporate reputation narrative through regular engagement with media across the globe.
  • Oversee project teams, including external agencies and partners, guiding the creation of content and managing priorities to develop and deliver communications plans and materials.
  • Partner with Government Relations and Legal teams to develop company positions on strategic policy initiatives; including narrative development related to technology and design policy, social justice issues, and visual communication.

You're probably a match if

  • A minimum of 8+ years in corporate communications, with 2-3 years of experience working day-to-day with C-suite executives on communications programs for organizations of at least 2,000 - 3,000 employees.
  • A strong writer with a knack for crisp and concise storytelling that not only informs but also inspires.
  • Experience independently building and running communications programs.
  • A flexible thinker, with a strength for working in gray areas and in highly autonomous settings with discretion and the utmost confidentiality.
  • Experience in influencing key decision makers at a leadership level.
  • A team player with a bias for action and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once. Someone who thrives on both the development and execution of strategies from end-to-end, and brings a creative approach in moving work from chaos to clarity.
  • A flair for design with have the ability to create engaging and beautiful presentations and partner with creative teams to guide the production of engaging creative content across a range of formats and audiences.

About the team As part of the Global Communications function, our Corporate Communications team is responsible for working with the media, analysts, policymakers and our customers and employees to share the story of Canva’s business and the universal need for visual communication. We shape the big-picture narrative behind Canva by showcasing our growth, culture and vision while also leading business, safety, crisis, policy, financial, leadership and social impact communications.  We move quickly and no two days are ever the same. As a Senior Corporate Communications Manager, you’ll support our global media relations program while acting as a strategic thought partner to a variety of stakeholders in order to tell the stories that entrench Canva as a generational defining company. Whether it’s an opinion piece, briefing materials , keynote presentation or social posts, this role will bring a strategic lens to the way we communicate with diverse audiences around the world. This role will also focus on supporting our Head of People and developing Canva’s People and Culture narrative, highlighting unique culture stories while also building out thought leadership demonstrating the impact of visual communication on building and scaling teams, cultures and companies.  We’re looking for a meticulous and strategic communicator with proven experience shaping narratives and driving strong media relations efforts for world-class brands. The successful candidate will be comfortable working under pressure with tight deadlines, independently managing complex media scenarios and doing so as a partner to key stakeholders.
