Job Description As the Crisis Intervention Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing our capability to provide immediate intervention in high-risk situations identified during patient experience and patient care calls. You will lead a small team of experts, address and triage individuals at risk of self-harm, harm to others, or other crisis situations. This role requires swift response, comprehensive risk assessment, and coordination with internal teams and emergency services to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Crisis Response framework and process in collaboration with Patient Experience and Clinic teams.
  • Provide immediate outreach and intervention during high-risk patient interactions.
  • Conduct real-time risk assessments to determine patients' needs and risk levels.
  • Liaise with and refer patients to relevant crisis and emergency services
  • Offer immediate support to patients dealing with crisis-related issues.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment to solve problems and manage cases, adapting principles, procedures, and techniques as necessary.
  • Utilize advanced reasoning skills to support in complex and acute situations, effectively communicating actions to the team.
  • Establish and operationalize follow-up processes for patients in crisis situations and distress.
  • Complete risk assessments, and provide information, advocacy, and support to patients experiencing a crisis event.
  • Report, track, and identify prevention methods for incidents.
  • Support the orientation of new staff and continuously upskill existing staff in crisis support, de-escalation, and other relevant areas.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of crisis response processes to ensure best practice.
  • Maintain appropriate records, including notes, reporting documentation, and incident reports.
  • Keep up-to-date with knowledge, skills, and practices within risk management, safety, and quality frameworks.
  • Maintain professional registrations or accreditations as required.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team by providing clear leadership, direction, and support

Qualifications If you are committed to making a positive impact and have the expertise to lead a team in crisis intervention, we would love to hear from you.  

  • 6+ years of experience in mental health and domestic violence intake and crisis intervention assessment
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare, or other related discipline
  • Previous experience in providing crisis intervention and risk assessment
  • An informed understanding of the incidence, causes, and impacts of crisis and de-escalation techniques.
  • A clear knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed approaches and care.
  • Experience leading a small team with hands-on involvement is an advantage.
  • Crisis intervention skills and risk assessment experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
