About the role

Position Details About the role: 

  • The role of Senior Policy Advisor in the Health System and Asset Planning branch is a challenging and rewarding opportunity well suited to a motivated, adaptable individual who can work collaboratively in a small team.
  • You will be required to provide strategic policy advice on issues across a number of work programs related to strategic land use; partnership projects in support of Victoria's Aboriginal community-controlled organisations; and the delivery of climate change and sustainability commitments.
  • You will be required to engage with other divisions in the Department of Health and across government to leverage Whole of Victorian Government objectives and health system reform.

  • Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Develop policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
  • Maintain an understanding of Commonwealth and State legislative and policy reform directions to influence policy development.
  • Operate within increased level of autonomy and accountability in delivering within broad strategic directions.
  • Provide professional leadership and guidance.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
