About the role

The Role You Could Play:   Skincare is a key category within our MECCA beauty offer with a portfolio of exciting brands spanning household beauty names through to small emerging brands. To support the growth trajectory planned for the category, we have an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager, which at MECCA we call a Brand Manager, to join the MECCA Brands and Buying team in a role that is dynamic, fast-paced and is central to our business.

As a Brand Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and building our Skincare brand portfolio in the Australian and New Zealand markets, including planning and maximising new product launches, driving core product performance, identifying new customer or commercial opportunities, and deepening the strategic relationships with our brands. These roles are integral to the continued, long-term success of MECCA and include responsibilities such as:

  • Building annual brand and category plans based on performance and market insights.
  • Managing and maintaining strong business relationships with new and existing brands in MECCA’s skincare portfolio.
  • Acting as a MECCA Brands ambassador and local affiliate for each brand
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and communicating brand performance.
  • Managing sales, COGS, and commercial performance of the brand portfolio vs budgets
  • Successfully delivering launch plans across the business using promotion and marketing planning processes to ensure priority launches are aligned with rest of business.
  • Work closely with and effectively managing internal stakeholders to support go-to-market initiatives such as monthly retail promotions and digital activations.
  • Playing an active role in coaching an Assistant Brand Manager, enhancing their skills, and ensuring category success. What You Will Bring: There is no doubt that extensive prior account/category and brand management experience in finished goods and a passion for our customers is an absolute must for anyone in this role. You will also be able to demonstrate that you have experience in the following:  
  • Developed and implemented category and brand strategies to ensure long-term and lasting growth
  • Driven long-term change, effectively influencing senior stakeholders and/or brand founders, and engaging others on the journey
  • Well-honed rapport-building and interpersonal skills as a master relationship-builder with leading global brands
  • Commercially astute and experienced in owning and driving P&L efficiencies
  • A strong negotiator of outcomes to benefit all parties and deliver commercially on all sides
  • Extensively worked collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Digital, and Finance
  • A growth mindset, constantly looking at ways to strengthen the customer and brand experience.
