Why Ambulance Victoria

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is responsible for providing emergency medical transport, pre-hospital care and non-emergency stretcher and clinic transport services for around 5.2 million people throughout Victoria, an area of almost 227,600 square kilometres. The organisation is also responsible for providing air ambulance services throughout the state. AV is an integral component of the health care system and consequently a significant infrastructure is in place to enable a rapid emergency response and delivery of a high standard of pre-hospital care to the community.

No matter what corporate or support role you play in delivering our critical services to Victorians, you join a team dedicated to bringing our vision of ‘Outstanding emergency health care every time' to life.  We are seeking a Quality & Safety Lead to join Adult Retrieval Victoria (ARV) to lead the improvement of ARV's quality & safety processes, continuous improvement philosophies and practices.  This is a part time 0.42 FTE, permanent position currently based at AV's critical care centre in Essendon Fields. 

About the role Reporting to the Director Adult Retrieval Victoria, responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake complex or technical investigations and make recommendations
  • Consult, provide expert opinion and guidance on clinical, professional and industry standards
  • Develop strong networks with industry colleagues to facilitate access to expertise
  • Consult with key parts of the health sector to ensure key issues/concerns from stakeholders are adequately addressed and that there is a strong understanding of the Adult Retrieval service across the health sector
  • Represent ARV at various external events and/or forums** **

About you To be considered for this position you will possess:

  • Appropriate specialist medical qualifications and relevant postgraduate qualifications or experience
  • Victorian medical practitioner registration and compliance with specialist college CME requirements
  • Significant clinical experience in retrieval medicine
  • Experience in
    • The Australian health system (or knowledge of)
    • A medical retrieval service, (recent experience with ARV highly desirable)
    • Strategic level management with a strong focus quality & safety
    • Quality, audit, review & process improvement systems** **
