This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, however there will be occasional travel (on the road) with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. 

Job Description We are seeking a dynamic Trade and Compliance Specialist to enhance our import/export operations and maintain our high standards of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate Trade Activities:

Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, agents, and transport providers to ensure timely and efficient shipments. Drive best practices and continuous improvement in our import/export processes. Oversee international logistics from suppliers to warehouse receipt. Maintain precise records for import/export transactions, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, permits, licenses, customs declarations, and compliance reports. Engage with governmental bodies for product classifications, certifications, and trade reporting. Negotiate and secure competitive rates with brokers and other agents. Regulatory Compliance:

Interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines to guide Montu’s import/export processes. Provide expert guidance on compliance requirements, documentation, and procedures. Stay current with evolving regulations, tariffs, and sanctions. Ensure all import/export activities comply with applicable laws, minimizing risks of delays, fines, and penalties. Develop and implement compliance programs, including policies, procedures, and training. Liaise with the TGA, Office of Drug Control, and the Australian Border Force. Manage import permit applications and maintain compliance records. Risk Assessments:

Assess and mitigate risks related to import/export activities. Identify potential compliance gaps and recommend strategies to address them. Managing Audits and Investigations:

Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to trade laws. Support external audits and work promptly to rectify any compliance issues. Qualifications 4+ years of experience working with Imports and exports, Pharmaceutical space, raw material – natural products and or commodities.

Highly advantageous - Supply chain or Logistics experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, law or related field.

Previous experience in import/export, legal or regulatory compliance environment is essential.

Understanding of trade regulations, tariffs and sanctions.

Understanding the Medical Cannabis industry would be advantageous.

Current Satisfactory Police Check.
