About the role

Position Details

There are currently 2 x Communication Adviser vacancies, one is Ongoing and the other is Fixed Term until 30/04/2025. Please specify your preference in your application. About the role: 

  • The Communications Adviser works as part of a team to deliver key communications materials to support the department's strategic priorities.
  • Reporting into a Head of Strategic Communications, you will work closely with branch colleagues, ministerial offices, department executives and relevant business areas within the department to ensure communications material is clear, engaging, timely, and aligned to the department's strategic narrative and plan.
  • With strong communications and writing skills and good attention to detail, you will be responsible for preparing engaging written content across a range of media for different audiences and purposes.

  • Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of communication strategies and activities including production of print, online and multimedia materials.
  • Provide detailed communications advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communications that are of a high written and visual standard and which comply with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
  • Work with other areas of the department and Communications and Engagement colleagues to produce high quality outcomes for stakeholders and clients.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work collaboratively to increase the effectiveness of the department's communications.
  • Assess and respond to policy and process changes and act as a change agent to support initiatives aligned to the department's corporate direction.
  • Provide support to other teams across the branch as and when required, including support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the branch and department.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required. To learn more please click ‘Apply' to view the Position Description on the Careers.vic website.
