Telum Media creates connections between the media and public relations sectors using our industry-focused online media contacts database, events, news and communications channels.

Helping public relations firms and in-house communication teams connect with the right journalists and media outlets at the right time. Our teams across the Asia Pacific region work diligently to ensure our media contacts platform is up-to-date, rich in helpful information and user-friendly.

We also facilitate events that forge meaningful connections for clients and the industry. We work with journalists to publish short and long-form content, support calls for help with our media requests, and aid industry recruitment with our jobs board.

About the role

We are looking for a Manager to join our Australia and New Zealand Media Team based in Sydney where you will work alongside knowledgeable and professional colleagues.

What you will do:

  1. Coach, lead, manage and mentor colleagues to increase individual and Team confidence and knowledge
  2. Manage the successful completion of Team targets, to deadline and to high standards, in-line with business plans
  3. Manage the recruitment, training, onboarding and probation of all new hires
  4. Manage annual leave, sickness, expenses, promotions and annual appraisals
  5. Contribute to and oversee the successful implementation of Team, Department and Company business plans and objectives
  6. Identify, develop and implement process and management efficiencies
  7. Lead and guide the Team to achieve Telum’s journalist engagement strategy, including the publishing of accurate, newsworthy content, with minimal edits
  8. Serve as a role model and resource in being able to inspire and guide others towards accomplishing goals

What we are looking for:  

  1. Excellent leadership and Team management skills to cultivate a culture of high performance and collaboration
  2. A minimum of four years’ managerial experience in a Manager or Team Leader position
  3. Familiarity in leading and mentoring a team of at least four people
  4. Proven ability to coach, mentor and motivate colleagues
  5. A positive, proactive and self-motivated approach to work
  6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  7. Experience of learning new concepts quickly
  8. An understanding of the media industry would be an advantage
  9. Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about the media industry
  10. Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about the PR industry, what Telum customers do and how they use Telum to achieve their objectives
  11. A proven ability to drive process improvement and operational excellence

What we offer: 

·      Salary of $85,000 - $100,000

·      A comprehensive training and development programme

·      A hybrid working environment

·      Annual leave of 20 days
