About the job

This job is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to make a tangible impact on Australian agriculture through the Capturing Value from Soil Security project. Working with a passionate interdisciplinary research team at the University of Sydney and the Cotton Research and Development Corporation, you will develop and apply a Soil Security assessment framework tailored for cotton farming systems. Collaboration and innovation are at the heart of how the team operates, fostering a supportive environment for professional growth.

You'll be responsible for

Conducting research

Conduct research within Australian cotton farming systems, contributing to agreed project plans, milestones and CRDC reporting requirements.
📊

Regional assessment contribution

Contribute to regional baseline assessment using pedogenons, genosoils and phenosoils as the organising soil-landscape framework, including the development and management of GIS layers and mapping products.
🧑‍🌾

Fieldwork coordination

Design and coordinate defined components of a stratified, multi-site soil-sampling program, including field logistics, randomisation, metadata, quality assurance and quality control.

PhD in relevant field

Possession of a PhD in soil science or related discipline.
