About the job

The Principal Observability Platform Engineer at Optiver plays a vital role in evolving observability into a business-critical platform capability. This position focuses on building reliable systems that enhance how engineers and operators interact with production signals. Collaboration is key, as the team works together to create a globally consistent platform that is easy to adopt and deeply integrated into production systems.

You'll be responsible for

🛠️

Designing and building components

Creating components of Optiver’s shared observability platform across telemetry collection, ingestion, storage, query, visualisation, alerting, diagnostics, and service health.
📈

Improving scalability and reliability

Enhancing the scalability, reliability, performance, cost-effectiveness, and operational quality of high-volume telemetry systems.
🔍

Owning reliability and operational quality

Taking responsibility for the reliability and operational quality of the components built, including service health and incident learnings.

Key criteria

🛠️

Strong engineering experience

Proven experience in SRE, platform engineering, or distributed systems.
