About the job

The Senior Elixir Backend Engineer position is all about pushing the limits of real-time messaging at scale. This job is crucial for ensuring the architecture, performance, and reliability of the services that facilitate every conversation on the platform. The team thrives on collaboration, working closely together to refine data sync patterns and make impactful decisions for the platform's technical direction.

You'll be responsible for

Owning the architecture, scaling, and reliability of the backend

Ensure the Elixir and Phoenix backend remains performant and maintainable as the feature set expands towards Series A.

Designing and evolving the real-time messaging layer

Utilize Phoenix Channels to create sync and recovery patterns that withstand production load.

Leading the database strategy

Manage schema design, access patterns, query performance, and operational health across Postgres and DynamoDB.

8+ years of backend engineering experience with Elixir and BEAM.
