This job is about joining the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District as a dedicated Sexual Assault Counsellor within the Community Sexual Assault Service. You'll be responsible for

🌍

Supporting engagement with Aboriginal communities

The Aboriginal Sexual Assault Counsellor will support engagement with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders, and clients, providing cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with First Nations children and families.
🛡️

Providing therapeutic and case management services

Support the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal adults and children who have been sexually assaulted or who are under the age of 10 years with problematic and sexually harmful behaviours.

Participating in professional development

Engage in ongoing professional development, training, and cultural supervision to ensure culturally safe practices and worker wellbeing.

Skills you'll need

Culturally appropriate trauma-focused therapeutic support

Experience providing culturally appropriate trauma-focused therapeutic supports for Aboriginal individuals and families regarding sensitive issues.

Community engagement and collaboration

Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement, and collaborations.
