About the job

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Worker job is all about making a meaningful impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This position plays a crucial role in strengthening cultural safety and embedding culturally responsive practices at the Townsville Alcohol and Other Drugs Centre. The team thrives on collaboration, creativity, and a shared commitment to fostering community connections and positive change.

You'll be responsible for

🌏

Providing cultural guidance

Providing cultural guidance and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants accessing AOD services.
🤝

Building relationships

Building strong relationships with local Elders, Traditional Owners, community organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).

Increasing referral pathways

Increasing referral pathways and improving access to culturally appropriate services and supports.

Key criteria

🌍

Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
