The Energy Market Analyst position at the SEC is all about delivering critical market insights that influence key energy decisions. This job plays a vital role in shaping Australia's evolving energy landscape by analysing trends and building smart tools that drive data-led strategies. The SEC fosters a collaborative and dynamic team environment, dedicated to achieving Victoria’s renewable energy target of 95% by 2035.

You'll be responsible for

Modelling and forecasting development

Supporting the development and continuous improvement of the SEC’s market modelling and forecasting capabilities, including short-term probabilistic forecasts and long-term market capacity expansion models.

Data collation and management

Working with the team to improve the organisation, interpretation and presentation of market data from various sources.

Scenario planning and analysis

Supporting the team in the development of a range of alternative views of the energy transition pathway.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and models to generate actionable insights.

Data processing

Proficient in data processing and workflow development using Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
