About the job

Legal Officers (Child Advocates) play a vital role in advocating for children and young people within the child protection system. By ensuring their voices are heard and their rights upheld, these professionals contribute to meaningful legal decision-making. At the Office of the Public Guardian, teamwork and collaboration are at the heart of our mission to protect and empower our most vulnerable community members.

You'll be responsible for

Performing child advocacy functions

Undertaking advocacy for children and young people in areas of law such as child protection and youth justice, ensuring their rights are upheld.

Advising and supporting children

Assisting children and young people to understand decisions and ensuring their views are heard in meetings and hearings.

Building relationships

Sustaining positive relationships with team members and external stakeholders to enhance advocacy efforts.

Law degree and admission

Possession of a law degree and admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
