This job is about joining the University of Sydney’s Office of General Counsel as a Lawyer in Intellectual Property, Research and Commercial Law. Helping clients navigate complexity

Helping Research Portfolio clients navigate complexity to give decision makers confidence in pursuing the University’s objectives and strategy.

Providing strategic legal advice

Providing clear, timely, strategic legal advice to support the activities of the Research Portfolio, with the support of Senior Lawyers and the Director.
✍️

Drafting and negotiating agreements

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating research and commercialisation agreements to promote the University’s strategic interests and objectives.

Skills you'll need

Qualifications in law

Must have qualifications in law and admission to practice in Australia, along with a current practicing certificate.
⚖️

Intellectual property law experience

A minimum of 6+ years post admission legal experience, particularly in intellectual property law, commercialisation, and commercial law.
🗣️

Interpersonal and communication skills

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to operate with tact and professionalism across complex environments.
