About the job

Kennedys is on the lookout for an experienced Special Counsel to join Emily Schneider's team in Melbourne. This exceptional opportunity allows you to play a key role in supervising junior lawyers, managing complex matters, and contributing to the team's growth. You'll be involved in sophisticated professional indemnity, D&O, construction disputes, and class actions within a market-leading insurance practice, all while enjoying genuine flexibility with hybrid working arrangements.

You'll be responsible for

Supervising and mentoring

Supervise and mentor Associates and junior lawyers in day-to-day file management.

Drafting coverage advices

Draft coverage advices for insurers, often handling urgent matters requiring quick turnaround.
⚖️

Managing complex matters

Manage complex professional indemnity, D&O, and construction matters independently.

Skills you'll need

📚

Commercial litigation experience

9+ years' PQE in commercial litigation, insurance, or professional indemnity is essential.
💼

Strong litigation skills

Proven ability to manage complex files independently and demonstrate strong litigation skills.

Excellent communication skills

Demonstrated experience in excellent written and verbal communication with strong drafting abilities.
